6 reasons why Messer is the best place to host a corporate event in Fitzroy

There are many places you can hold a corporate event in Fitzroy. But if you’re looking for something more special than your standard team lunch at the pub or pizzeria and you’re not keen to spend your entire marketing budget on a fine-dining banquet, you’ve come to the right place.

Messer (that’s German for ‘knife’) is restaurant number two from Head Chef Ashley Davis and the team behind Copper Pot in Seddon. At Messer, you can enjoy a modern interpretation of the quintessential Berliner diner experience, minus the daggy lederhosen and tacky Oktoberfest memorabilia that you often find at some of Melbourne’s so-called German bierhausen

Here are 6 more reasons why you should choose Messer as your next venue for your corporate event:

1. Large capacity

You can book tables for your team in advance simply by calling us on (03) 9419 0035 or via our reservations page on our website. Our restaurant has capacity for up to 50 people so you can even book the whole place out if you’re thinking of holding an epic EOFY function or Christmas party.

2. Central location

You seriously couldn’t have asked for a better location. Messer sits right in the middle of Gertude Street, just a short walk from the top end of the city. If you prefer to take public transport, tram 86 will drop you right in front of the restaurant.

3. Our food

Sure, you can find a handful of German food options in Melbourne but we do things a little differently here at Messer. We draw our inspiration from the traditional Berlin diner, adding our little spin on it; we are also inspired by the cuisines of neighbouring European countries. As a result, you will be treated with dishes such as mini duck currywurst, wood-fired flatbreads topped with your favourite flavours and rotisserie pork chop with kohlrabi and cider, just to name a few best-selling dishes from our menu.

4. Tasty vegetarian options

German food is traditionally meat-heavy but we’ve adapted our menu to suit vegetarians. Try popular dishes such as our potato salad with cucumber and spring onion; käsespätzle with kale, gruyere and shallots (think of it as a German mac and cheese!); and our grilled broccoli with ricotta and caraway seed mix. A lot of our dishes are gluten-free too – just ask one of our friendly staff to point them out to you!

5. Yummy desserts

Yes, we do a fine apple strudel – but not as you know it. Our modern interpretation of this much-loved dessert comprises filo shards and the most amazing burnt butter ice cream you’ll ever try. Our other dessert options include rhubarb semifreddo with hazelnut amaretti crumb and a luscious comtéwith lavosh and pear chutney.

6. Let’s not forget the booze

No corporate event is complete without good alcohol; luckily, this is an area in which we deliver handsomely. Our wine list is as awesome as our menu, so expect to find the likes of biodynamic Spanish red blends sitting alongside a bottle of Blaufränkisch from Austria. And yes, we also do craft beers and cocktails. Bottoms up!
